Description

Mitragyna inermis, is a species of plant belonging to the Rubiacees family. Distribute throughout tropical Africa. It is a tree that reaches 23 m in height, which is found in the rainforest and savannah from Guinea to Sudan, usually in humid places, cut riverside; it is found in a crazy region and has spread well in tropical Africa. It has a low branched tueru tail, dacuando trabancosa, with a large crown. From cutiu they are planted like road trees to give shade. In Central Africa the tree is considered sacred and religious gatherings may take place in its shadow. The wood is lixera, white with a light brown heart. It is not commercially valued. It is used as a medicinal plant in several regions. Mitragyna inermis is described by (Willd.) Kuntze y released in Revision of the genera of Plants 1: 288, in 1891. Mitragyna is a genus of trees in the family Rubiaceae found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Africa. Members of this genus contain antimalarial and analgesic indole alkaloids. The Rubiacae are the fifth-largest family of flowering plants by number of genera, and the fourth- or fifth-largest by number of species.
