Astelia 'Red Devil'

Red Mountain Astelia

Evergreen Perennial, Shrub

Similar in size, shape, color, and texture to Astelia 'Red Gem' but takes on deeper burgundy tones in winter. The red tones will often persist into summer if it's grown in an exposed location. It prefers reliably damp conditions and won't be happy in dry soil. It's a wonderful choice for adding architectural oomph to your plantings. Unfortunately, it's not consistently or reliably available, but worth the wait and/or hunt.
