Chelsea picked up a big win on Tuesday night as they sealed a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at the expense of Blackburn Rovers.

Mauricio Pochettino handed starts to Benoit Badiashile, Reece James and Enzo Fernandez after the trio had been dealing with injury issues in recent weeks, but no setbacks look to have been suffered, giving the Blues a boost ahead of facing Tottenham.

After his bright weekend display, Cole Palmer was again impressive and he played a key role in Sterling's goal with Pochettino being sent a huge message regarding the 21-year-old. Elsewhere, a huge update has come to light on Ivan Toney ahead of the January transfer window.

Silva details Chelsea relationship with Pochettino

Thiago Silva has explained how he and Mauricio Pochettino help each other as he enters the final few months of his current Chelsea contract.

Because of his experience, Silva admitted he has been able to help Pochettino look at a different perspective of a plan or issue as he is on the pitch, however he also revealed how the Argentine has assisted him in his later years.

Fernandez handed new Chelsea role

Enzo Fernandez has become an important player under Mauricio Pochettino with the Chelsea boss now handing him a new role.

This season, Moises Caicedo has been deployed in a deeper role while Fernandez and Conor Gallagher are given license to get forward from midfield with the latter practically alongside Cole Palmer in attack against Arsenal last month. Unfortunately, that flow was disrupted in the weekend defeat to Brentford with Fernandez missing out entirely with a minor muscular injury.

Ahead of the Blackburn cup tie, he was spotted back in training and he then played 87 minutes in the 2-0 victory with a new role for the 22-year-old emerging.

Nkunku sends Chelsea message

Chelsea will be hoping Christopher Nkunku is back in time for the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Newcastle United.

Following the fourth round win against Blackburn, Nkunku posted to his Instagram account congratulating his team-mates with the caption, "next round, [white tick and clapping emoji]," hinting that he may be involved in that very game.

And now he has sent another message that Chelsea fans will certainly love the sight of.

Ramsdale to Chelsea transfer update

Chelsea are planning to play the long game in their attempts to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

The Blues, despite signing two new goalkeepers this summer, emerged as a possible shock destination for the England international after he was replaced by David Raya in Mikel Arteta's preferred starting XI.

And after weeks of minimal updates, a fresh timeline has emerged with Crook claiming that Chelsea are prepared to wait until next summer before advancing their interest as they are aware he will cost a lot to sign mid-season.

Three reasons Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku can save Chelsea's season

It hasn't been long but Cole Palmer is already entirely undroppable and indispensable to Chelsea. His arrival into the team has already led to an upturn in goals and results with the one exception being against Brentford and even there he was a standout player.

Palmer, for example, already has more assists than Joao Felix managed in his six-month loan spell at Chelsea. That number is only one but demonstrates the differing styles and immediate effect that Palmer has had. He has scored twice - though both are from the spot - but registered 2.0 xA which is already four times more than Felix managed in half the amount of minutes and this is all without Christopher Nkunku.

James fires Chelsea message to Badiashile ahead of Tottenham

Chelsea captain Reece James has sent a message to defender Benoit Badiashile as the pair made a return to the starting lineup in Wednesday's victory over Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup. The pair have been amongst a whole host of injury concerns so far this season, but they are back in Pochettino's squad.

Captain James suffered a hamstring issue that kept him out of action for roughly three months, building up his minutes played before being thrown back into the team. He was also joined by Badiashile in the backline, having missed the latter part of last season and the start of this campaign.

After his goal in the win over Blackburn, Badiashile has been sent a message by James.

Jesus Perez Tottenham availability explained

Jesus Perez will be available in Chelsea's dugout following his sending off against Brenford, despite admitting a misconduct charge from the FA. Chelsea's assistant head coach has been fined £4,000 for his actions having accepted the charge.

Perez was deemed to have shown improper conduct when he entered the opposition technical area and needed to be pulled away from a confrontation with Bees coaching staff. However, he will make his return to Spurs alongside Mauricio Pochettino this Monday.

Paul Merson makes shocking Tottenham vs Chelsea prediction

Colwill sends Tottenham warning

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has sent Tottenham Hotspur a warning ahead of their Premier League London derby on Monday evening.

Mauricio Pochettino will visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since leaving in November 2019 after five years in charge. The Argentine made his return to the Premier League in the summer to take over at Stamford Bridge but has endured a mixed start.

The north Londoners have won eight of their first 10 league games - including victories over Manchester United and Liverpool - to lead the way. However, Colwill is confident that Chelsea can defeat their London rivals.

Mount repeat

Chelsea could face a potential repeat to the saga surrounding midfielder Mason Mount in the summer transfer window, with another star holding an unknown future. The situation for the academy graduate arose as part of a difficult season and the huge changes that followed at the club.

Mount had become a mainstay in the Chelsea team since breaking through under Frank Lampard, even going on to earn two Player of the Year awards at the club. However, things last season took a turn for the worst for both him and the squad as a whole during a tough campaign.

The midfielder was ravaged by injuries that never fully allowed for him to gain momentum that he had previously found at the club. That was further broken up by a host of management switches that never truly saw him depended on the same way as before, only contributing to more poor form.

Gary Neville message

Gary Neville has issued a stark warning to Erik ten Hag as the pressure on the Manchester United manager continues to increase.

Former United defender Neville said Ten Hag is "struggling in front of our eyes" and painted a grim picture of his situation at Old Trafford - adding "we know how it ends." After Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, United have already lost eight times this season in just 15 games.

The prospects for Premier League and Champions League success are already looking bleak. Despite this, Ten Hag has pledged to turn things around, stating he is a "fighter".

Palmer injury worry

Cole Palmer has become an injury concern for Chelsea after receiving a slight knock to the ankle on Wednesday evening in the tie with Blackburn Rovers. The playmaker was seen hobbling from a kick, though seemingly carried on until his substitution late on.

Triple Chelsea injury boost

Mauricio Pochettino does not look to have suffered any further injury blows in his Chelsea squad after the Carabao Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.

The Blues secured a 2-0 victory with Benoit Badiashile, Enzo Fernandez and Reece James all starting after missing games in recent weeks with injuries. Despite Badiashile and James being withdrawn after the hour mark, Pochettino confirmed that was the plan ahead of the game.

Cole Palmer message

Mauricio Pochettino has been told the importance of Cole Palmer as Chelsea prepare for a challenging Premier League fixture run-in.

Speaking to OLBG, former Chelsea man Emmanuel Petit, praised his impact along with positive comments on Conor Gallagher and Raheem Sterling. "I really like Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer," he said. "I was surprised to see Palmer leave City. I liked seeing his tussle with Sterling over the penalty the other week because it's exactly what Chelsea need.

"They need players to step up and take responsibility. Palmer is one of those players. So far, I really like how Sterling has started this season and I was surprised not to see him in the England side. Conor Gallagher is another one I like, too.

"I liked him when he played at Palace, and he's had some difficulty since coming back to Chelsea. I like him, though, and I want those three to step up more. That's what the fans want to see. When big players like Chilwell are injured, those players should aim to step up and take ownership."

Huge Ivan Toney transfer twist

Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who could cost up to £100million, according to a new report from Sky Sports.

They state that the Bees value the 27-year-old at £100million with the view to keeping him until the end of the 2023/24 season, with his footballing ban set to end in mid-January.
