Was excited to get this because of the note breakdown and thought it would be a fresher more wearable alternative to the original, but sadly I don’t like this at all. In fact I think I’d rather wear the original over this. This is by no means a bad scent, it’s just not what I want to smell like. The main problem I have with the original L’eau D’Issey is that the yuzu note is to sharp for my nose and too overwhelming. This scent however tones that down but still keeps that dna in the background, and amps up more watery notes and tropical fruit. But the fruit blended with the watery notes leaves a pungent off putting smell to me as I don’t like aquatic scents at all. Notes with Calone or anything similar to a sea note just comes off as wet dog to my nose. So in all the fragrance to me smells like a wet dog, mixed with fruits and sharp yuzu in the base. Now if you’re a person who loves the original and loves aquatic fragrances this is a easy love. I think if it didn’t have that watery aspect I’d love it as a scent but those notes just turn me off to it completely after I tried wearing it multiple times. A pass for me but definitely a buy for anyone a fan of the original L’eau D’Issey and fresh aquatic fragrances.

I used to find this more akin to the original L'Eau d'Issey, but now I realize it reminds more of L'Eau d'Issey Sport. The grapefruit accord over nutmeg and vetiver make this almost like an "Issey Sport Sport" if that makes sense. This time, instead of the landlocked smell of Issey Sport, it veers more to the beach or at least closer to the sea.

It wears light, but has a bracing and uplifting punch to it which is exactly what you need in a summer scent. There's a touch more fruitiness than other Issey flankers and the airy vetiver drydown keeps giving subtle wafts for longer than you'd think with a scent of this type. For a light and pleasant warm weather option, I'm happy to keep it around.

Just to note, every single Issey Summer edition that has Morillas' signature is the same. The earlier Jacques Cavallier Summer flankers are slightly different, but the formula hasn't changed much at all (Morillas has even said as much in interviews). With the laundry list of Issey Miyake flankers and special editions and flankers of special editions of flankers it's not necessary to worry about which Summer version you get.

Imagine taking your dog for a walk on the beach and running with it in the sea. Then letting your dog shake itself over you. That’s what I get, a salty wet dog vibe, with a hint of the original Issey DNA. A miss from me, I prefer the smokey Intense or Nuit.

Great fragrance especially for the price, I got the 125ml for 30$. Nice toned down citrus fragrance with the distinctive Issey DNA. This is a very clean blue feeling fragrance with a bit of spice in the opening but goes away after the initial dry down. Longevity only about 2-4 hours from my experience

Oh this is lovely. It has that unmistakeable L'eau D'Issey DNA, but the citrus is toned down and it's more balanced and unbelievably fresh. This was a blind buy as I love the original, and tbh I think I prefer this one! It's super cheap as well, paid £25 for a 125ml which is fantastic value for the quality you're getting. Longevity isn't great, but at this price you can spray as you go. Definitely will be buying a backup bottle.

This fragrance is magical. I say that because the moment I smelled it, it made me think I was on vacation. Not any specific vacation from my past, but it transported my state of mind to another place. It truly captures the essence of being on vacation in a beachy / tropical environment.

It smells exactly how the artwork portrays it: bright, fresh, green, and with a touch of blue. It's a great mix of green and blue notes, but I'd say it's 70% green / 30% blue. The green notes are attributed to the cypress and vetiver, which are very prominent. Personally I'd say these are the dominant notes to my nose, especially the cypress, but they are very well balanced by the grapefruit and kiwi. The scent is also pretty unique for a summer fragrance, considering most summer fragrances share a somewhat similar DNA.

Longevity and sillage are average for me, nothing special, but not horrible like other reviewers mention. But $25 for a 125ml bottle you can spray liberally. For light frags like this one I usually spray my t-shirt about 6-8 times, since frags like these tend to last longer on fabric. And again, for the price, you honestly can't do better than this for a summer frag. It's a quality fragrance for a very cheap price.

Overall 8.5/10

Picked this up earlier in the year at a bargain price of £15 for the 125ml bottle as I love the original L'eau D'Issey. This is a very good exotic summer citrus fresh bomb with that added bit of spicy, earthy and woody depth lurking somewhere and that feeling of being by the sea.

What I like about this is that it doesn't have that musky dry-down that so many aquatic citrus scents seem to rely on to prolong the life of the scent. I find that can simply spoil the beautiful citrus side of things far too quickly most of the time.

This really reminds me of Versace Man Eau Fraiche and indeed has saved me from purchasing a new bottle of that as it gives me the exact same vibe - Eau Fraiche might have a bit more depth to it but at this price I ain't gonna argue.

Worth seeking out at the current prices.

8/10 as with a lot of citrus based fragrances performance is slightly lacking and you may feel the urge to go trigger happy but the heat will help greatly so ideal to have a bottle or two for those really sweltering days or summer hols.

This is summer in heaven, blast of fruits and sea notes! In the high heat, take a shower, put a fresh clean shirt and bomb yourself with 8-10 sprays of this beauty on,and you will feel uplifted and people around will feel you're freshness!

clintjr82

Smells the same and has the previous notes from all editions 3 years in a row. Still fresh , clean, and spicy.

Metolord

Nothing different than other summer line of Issey Miyake.... again combination between cypress , citruses and ginger... it’s ok but not groundbreaking or not gonna blowing you away....

I will always have this in my summer fragrance collection!

Lovely bright fresh L'Eau d'Issey citrus with the unique grapefruit rather than the usual yuzu, smells less soapy to me than the classic too but retains the core Issey character. Sadly what lets it down is same as the classic, and that is that the longevity isn't great. 4/5

Got this as I liked the original L'eau D'Issey but this is a better fragrence for summer in my opinion. Nice summery notes of citrus and a bit of sea spray as well which mixes nice. It is quite potent so only a little is needed and lasts relatively long. The bottle size should also last longer than summer too!

Voltor46

Nice scent, the drydown reminds me to Bvlgari Aqva, not so seaweedy, but same aquatic vibe.

timmyraa

Love the scent - fanstastic summer notes, I just wish it would last longer.

zenais86

Very fresh! the dry down reminfs me versace man eau freiche.. the opening is different

thethe

Fantastic bright opening which quickly fades into the same drydown as the rest of the summer addtions.
Perhaps weaker tha other years

2 Brands I thinking it's similar to Calvin Klein one summer 2018+ Jimmy Choo man ice.

Very fresh, delicious fragrance. Best for summer days and nights (whoever has voted best for winter must be joking or a troll...).

The scent is soooo good. The mid accord of pineapple-nutmeg is surprising. Very fresh citrusy fruit well balanced balanced with spices, cypress and vetiver.

5h after application of 8 spays (4 on neck + 2 on each arm) I can still smell it clearly near my skin, but it does not project anymore. It's certainly not bad for a fresh summer fragrance (for example, the reformulation of YSL M7 Oud Absolu lasts for just about 1h on my skin, unbelievably). Pretty decent, IMHO.

It's a pity this is not a powerhouse, which generally is a 'must' for me, but I bought it anyway and I don't regret it. Projection is heavy for the first 2h, moderate for 2 to 3h more, and now it's soft. I don't know how long will it last. I'll make another review in the near future.

All in all, the best part is the mouth-watering scent. I think it's disctintive and different from the mainstream fresh citrus offerings in the market. Reminds me a lot of Dior Homme Cologne. Both are very good, but I pretty much prefer this one, it's more complex to my nose.

Will buy at least one more bottle, before it disappears!

mare_crisium

A great fresh scent, but abysmally poor longevity. Shame.
