Clitocybe truncicola (Peck) Sacc. 1887
This lovely canescent white to slightly yellowish or buff mushroom is initially convex with an inrolled margin becoming broadly vase-like with a wavy margin. The white to slightly yellowish gills are closely-space and decurrent on its short, slender, stuffed to hollow stipe. The base bears white mycelium. It has a white spore print. Clitocybe trunicola is saprotrophic and can be found on dead wood and stumps of broadleaf trees from summer to early fall. It is the sole Clitocybe to feed on wood. Not edible. It is in the Tricholomataceae family of the Agaricales order.
