Davallia canariensis is an attractive, deciduous to semi evergreen fern ( depending on the climate)
It has bright green, fine soft foliage, the fronds are triangular shape.
It has brown and furry scales covering the above ground rhizomes - probably the reason for the name.
It will grow as an epiphyte on rocks or trees but is most often seen in hanging baskets where it forms an elegant and thick draping display.
This species is more cold tolerant than most of the Davillia genus.
