Ceratopetalum apetalum or Coachwood is a medium sized, hardwood tree that features smooth and fragrant grey coloured bark.
It has slim, attractive leaves that appear in bronze and turn to green.
It also produces pretty flowers in late springtime which start out creamy white and turn into to salmony pink or even red flowers.
These trees are a favourite roosting place for Powerful Owls and make a splendid sight when planted en-masse in stands - too good to cut down for timber.
