Mindy Kaling Says She Runs or Hikes 20 Miles Per Week

The writer and actor is finally feeling “really confident” in her body.

In a candid new interview with People about her collaboration with Andie Swim, Mindy Kaling opened up about her relationship with her health and body image. The writer-actor-producer shared that she finally feels confident in her own skin, and dropped her rather vigorous workout routine.

“I'm feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I've been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately,” the Never Have I Ever creator said. 

“I feel great. I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it's flattering and sometimes it's just a little much, so I don't try to tune it in too much,” she added, addressing recent unsolicited comments about her weight on Instagram. “The truth is that I spend so much time and energy trying to be healthy.”

Mindy Kaling also told the outlet that in addition to weight training, she hikes or runs 20 miles every week. The mom to two children—Katherine, five, and Spencer, two—said this takes a lot of commitment and that she wakes up extra early and practically “lives in" her workout clothes. “I just tell myself I have to do basically 20 miles a week of either hiking or running,” she said. “And so that's been incredibly helpful to me.”
