The Royal Family have shared a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 97th birthday (21 April).
Posting to Instagram, the account shared a beautiful photo of The Queen wearing a purple dress and matching hat, adorned with flowers.
Captioning the post was the message, "Today we remember the incredible life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 97th birthday." It added that when Her Majesty was born, she was never expected to become Queen but "went on to be Britain’s longest reigning Monarch - the only one in history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee."
The Prince and Princess of Wales also shared their own tribute, choosing a sweet photograph of The Queen with many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.
Sadly, Queen Elizabeth passed away on 8 September 2022, after a historic reign of over seven decades.
Her son, King Charles III will be coronated on 6 May, in a service conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Royal Family's most sacred regalia will be involved in the ceremony, including St Edward’s Crown, the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels.
The nation and indeed those all over the world are gearing up to celebrate the occasion with picnics, lavish spreads fit for a king, and street parties. From cocktail recipes to party food ideas, there are plenty of tips from Good Housekeeping on how to celebrate the coronation in style this May.
