Taylor Kitsch is plotting a return to HBO: The former True Detective star is attached to a drama project about a drug dealer.
Kitsch, coming off of Paramount Network’s limited series Waco, would star in and executive produce the untitled drama, which is a co-production between HBO and eOne.
Sons of Anarchy veteran John Barcheski created the potential series and is writing with Robert Munic (Ice, Empire), who will be the showrunner. Matt Shakman (Game of Thrones, The Good Wife) will direct; all are executive producers, along with Kitsch.
The former Friday Night Lights star would play Chris Klug, a young, family-oriented drug dealer who catches a bad batch of dope that leaves him in a temporary vegetative state — only to discover it was no accident and that someone close to him was trying to take him out.
The story — part revenge tale, part family drama laced with humor — would be told through flashbacks and Chris’ present-day purgatory.
In addition to True Detective, Kitsch also had a role in HBO’s Emmy-winning 2014 movie The Normal Heart. He is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Barcheski is repped by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone; Munic is with ICM and The Gotham Group; and Shakman is repped by UTA and Artists First Inc.
