What is Ganoderma Lucidum?

Ganoderma Lucidum (also known as Reishi or Lingzhi) is an adaptogenic herb used throughout the world for thousands of years. It’s known as the King of Herbs and was once reserved for the Chinese royal family only. It’s one of the most studied mushrooms on Pub Med and you can find over 3,000 peer-reviewed studies and articles showing the effectiveness of this herb on a wide variety of chronic diseases.

It is truly one of the treasures of the earth!

Why is it so effective? Almost sounds too good to be true, right?

There are various mechanisms by which the different parts of the mushroom impact the human body. In general, it supports it by balancing the areas which need the most help right at that time. That’s the beauty of an adaptogen! Some people report reduced pain and inflammation. In others, they see dramatic increases in energy levels or decreases in sugar cravings. Some tell me it helps them sleep better. Others say it improves their mood and lifts their brain fog.

There are no known drug interactions or toxic levels of intake. What the body doesn’t need, it passes through. It’s smart like that! When people ask if it will help them with XYZ, I say, “I’m not sure if it’ll help, but it definitely won’t hurt to try it.” (The FDA doesn’t let me say anything else, unfortunately.)

Be careful, though - all Ganoderma is not created equally. Because of the growing popularity for medicinal mushrooms in general, and Ganoderma in particular, greed is rearing its ugly head. Here’s an example of the difference in quality between cheap knockoff competitor sources (left) and organically grown Organo mushrooms (right). Can you see the difference?

By adding this powerful herb into everyday beverages, it’s very easy to slide it into your normal routine. Admit it. We all forget our supplements sometimes, but who forgets their morning cup of coffee/tea? For those who don’t drink either, it’s available in Hot Cocoa, soap, toothpaste, or chocolate and vanilla nutritional shakes.

It’s also available in capsules…it’s just not as much delicious fun…unless you crack open those capsules and pour it into something else yummy!
