Terrestrial or rarely epiphytic; with fleshy tubers; Stem, ovary and calyx with glandular hairs; Leaves radical, sheaths like and cauline, 1-several; Inflorescence terminal, in raceme; Flowers resupinate, sepals free, dorsal sepal forming a hood with petals, lateral sepals spreading; Lip entire, 3-5-lobed; Spurred; Column short and broad; Flowers white, yellow, purple, red, pink.
