This is a macro-fungi (mushroom) field guide is intended to serve as a quick reference to common macro-fungi encountered in Kenyan ecosystems. The guide provides brief identifying characteristics of common mushrooms alongside a coloured photograph of the macrofungi to allow local conservationist and community identify those within their vicinity. Although some information regarding edibility are included alongside fungi species, it is important to avoid eating any mushrooms before is properly identified. As it will be discussed in details in this manual mushrooms are identified morphologically by examining the color of spore prints, spores and tissues under a microscope. Always submit mushroom species for proper identification before consuming to National Museum of Kenya (NMK), Botany Department.
