This sci-fi drama begins promisingly but loses its way in the Martian dust.

It is neither a low-budget exploitation pic, nor a big-budget epic in the Gravity mode. It is caught in some nether world in between.

In Olivia Williams' close-cropped, single-minded scientist Kim, the film has its own equivalent to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley in Alien and Liev Schreiber is also good value as one of the stranded space crew but it's hard to become emotionally engaged in a film in which the enemy are zombie-forming bacteria.
