I like to play with classical themes. This painting is a reference to a myth and story from the Greek and Roman world and also references a famous sculpture. (See the additional image.)

What is the myth of Laocoön about?
Laocoon was a Trojan priest in Greek mythology, who along with his two sons, was attacked by giant snakes sent by the gods. The phrase "I fear the Greeks even bearing gifts" is attributed to him.
