I quite liked this, nothing amazing, and it wasn't a step back from Desert Strike IMO. They're both even with each other. There was bog all realism here though. This was pure arcade, not a sim.

As already pointed out, this is a step back from Desert Strike on the technical side. It is also noticeably easier than the MegaDrive version - I seem to remember the Amiga version didn't punish you for dealing with targets in the wrong order. It still was much fun to play though, as well as smoother to control than its predecessor, which is why I'll support its relatively high average score.

"Jungle Strike" is not even close when compared with excellent "Desert Strike". Graphics are less appealing and they do not create that specific atmosphere that existed in the prequel. Even though there are three versions available (ECS, AGA and CD32) none of them is really showing the true potential of the system they are made for (In fact AGA version works on ECS chipset but requires 2 MB of Chip Ram). Sound and music are also weaker, less climatic and very repetitive and mundane. Overall, however weak above mentioned may sound, the game is not bad - it is quite good and entertaining but only if you look at it not as a sequel. "Jungle Strike" is a pure arcade game with smooth animation (much less jerky than in "Desert Strike" ) and almost not existing tactics element so much loved in the predecessor.

I'm not sure why some people criticize this game. It is a cool follow up to Desert Strike. Sure, it doesn't quite take advantage of the Amiga hardware like the original did, but it still is a great game!

This was an enjoyable game and a good continuation of desert strike but with faster scrolling! - a smart blend of action and strategy with new vechicles to drive thrown in for good measure.
I like the way you have to make decisions such as whether to go for another target or to collect fuel or ammo or whatever. It all adds to the urgency and decision making in the game - 8/10

I never got warm with the "Strike-Series" on Amiga. Don't exactly know why though ...

The only time I had real fun with one title of it was Nuclear Strike on the original Playstation ...

A really nice isometric shooter that really worked! I can remember giving up quite a bit of time to this series of games.

They didn't put much effort into making this game. Seems very similar to the megadrive version, and there is hardly any difference beteween the ECS and the AGA versions either (apart from the title screen).

Kinda easy game though, once I managed to complete the first level (which took a while) I completed the rest of the game.... (for some reason)

I was very disappointed when this game was released. Desert Strike is one of my all time favourits, and so expectations were high. The graphics feel less real and detailed than DS, and also lacks in depth. The best way I can describe it is probably that it feels a bit plastic over all.

The controls of the helicopter also lack in feel compared to DS.

It's still a pretty good game, but sadly doesn't come close to the genius of its predecessor.

Not a bad game at all. But I think Desert Strike was way better. They have a remake of this one and Desert Strike for the PSP in EA's Replay games. Nice, with some of the Amiga games on it.

Not a bad game but got too hard and complicated. Desert Strike was a much better game. 6/10
