Temperatures have plummeted in Merseyside in recent days with sleet and snow sweeping across the region.

The Met Office has confirmed that the yellow and amber warnings in place mean that the heavy snow forecast is "likely to cause significant disruption on Friday." Disruption includes travel delays on roads, cancellations to public transport and power cuts.

People are being warned severe travel disruption and delays after heavy snow fall across Merseyside last night and in the early hours of the morning and a number of local schools have already announced they are closed for the day.
