Japanese Willowleaf. Oak (Quercus salicina), an evergreen tree native to Japan and Korea. The tree is not especially tall but is rather broad. Its lance-shaped leaves are up to 10cm long and taper to a fine point. The young leaves are downy and the mature foliage has pale undersides. Extracts of Quercus salicina are used in cosmetics and Asian medicines. This species is closely allied to Quercus bambusifolia and is sometimes considered to be synonymous with Quercus stenophylla.
