Satyrium buchananii

Our recent collecting trip to the Nyika Plateau in Malawi focused on just about everything except the orchids but this place and this time of the year are just simply so exceptionally rich in orchid species that there was no avoiding them and we definitely did not want to ignore them. We in fact just missed the glory of entire fields of Satyrium buchananii but we still found some specimens in full flower of this beautiful orchid with its exceptionally long spurs. :-)
