My daughter Alicia holds up a Marita fruit ( Pandanus conoideus) in what is now known as West Papua New Guinea ( Indonesian New Guinea). The fruit is cooked down and the pulp makes a tomatoey like paste ( without the flavor) that locals relish and drench on their sweet potatoes and starch roots.
