I thought I knew my dad's entire car history until this morning when he told me that he owned one of these thngs for a week back in the 90's as a donor for some project, but it weas just so unbelievably rusty it was useless and he scrapped it! Almost as bad as awhen his landlord did something so bad to him that my dad had his classic Alfa Romeo saloon and Saab 900 Turbo towed and crushed (they were abandoned in the car park, but nonetheless, still good cars) frown I am more than a little angry when I hear that story.

72twinc I saw the same car, never seen a genuine Abarth 131 in the flesh before, faboulous thing...

In fact it was the first thing we looked at! (which was a bit sad seeing as how we were still in the public car park)

some more pics wish it was parked in my garage...

I had a two-door just like it too... no spots and different wheels. Before having a silver Sport, I had a black one (with orange interior). How I kick myself now.

On a slightly different note and just as tempting but more modern

Just wish it had the Abarth badge on the front grille.

I used to drool over Strada Abarths! It was because of the 7.9s 0-60mph time, which was seriously quick in those days.

I had a Black one I'n late 94 . Sure the reg was GUL...W . It had been Suplied new by Radbourne Racing, who back I'n the late 70s / early 80s were Fiat Main agents ( later Renault ) . Was a very original car, had had a bit of patching over the years, but basically very sound. However the drivers door had almost dissolved, it was awfull, but she came with another Brand new Door, must be Gold dust by now .

I sold her very reluctantly via Motoring News to a guy who said he was going to put a Cosworth I'n her . Often wonder where she is now .

Anyone recognise it ?

An aquaintance had a grey one for a while I'n the early 80s. But they were always a rare sight .

I've got a 1/18 Bburago one, that I bought on holiday in Sicily as a kid in the late 1970s. It was may favourite toy! Blue & yellow OLIO FIAT colours. There's a similar real one doing the rounds with Slowly Sideways, so it might be at Race Retro this month.

It's the same car that was in the Classic Cars mag Homologation comparison of a couple of years ago (where I blagged a passenger seat ride) and he regularly brings it along to Rally Day at Castle Combe - he's a dyed in the wool 131 man so doubt he'd sell it.

I ran a 131 sport for about 10 yrs, brilliant car, had no major issues with it at all, apart from constantly looking out for more tinworm. Funny thing was, the main shell never seemed to suffer from corrossion, whereas all the seperate panels (boot lid, bonnet and doors) always required some attention.

Still a few good cars around.
The Abarths are commanding proper money now. Lots of replicas around though too.
The Olio Fiat car is a road car dressed up in works colours, it used to be orange/red.
Some 131s I've shot over the years.
