A delicate waxy annual with fleshy leaves and erect stems ending in small redddish flowers.
Dextreme desert and semidesert mountains, rocky-stony slopes. Israel, Jordan down to Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula.
This is the only relative of the progenitor of the cultivated poppy.
