Pothos

Description:

Pothos longipes, commonly known as Pothos, Candle Flame, and Candle Vine, is a climbing plant of the warmer rainforests of eastern Australia. A slender, glossy leaved climber or hemi-epiphyte (ie: a plant growing on another plant or object using it for support and not nourishment). Leaves 1.5 to 5 cm long, 5 to 15 mm wide. Leaves flattened, appearing constricted with an apparent wasp waist in the middle of the leaf. This species was abundant in this section of the national park.

Habitat:

Found in sub-tropical rainforest, on the Pitta Circuit in D'Aguilar National Park. Thick forest canopy of other native tree species such as Strangler Fig, Queensland Red Cedar, Pink Bloodwood, and Coachwood to name but a few. Most of these photos are of Pothos growing on a massive Strangler Fig (Ficus watkinsiana).
