Zollinger's Neuwiedia

Neuwiedia zollingeri

Description:

medium to large sized, growing terrestrial

Habitat:

Found in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands and Sumatra in hill forests at elevations around 600 to 1000 meters

Notes:

One of the more 'primitive' species of orchids. When I first spotted this, I didn't think it was an orchid at all. It wasn't until I showed the photos to Craig Williams, that he confirmed it as an orchid. Kubah national park.
