The Roberts Wesleyan University and Northeastern Seminary community mourns the passing of David C. Hoselton on September 7, 2023. David served on the Board of Trustees for 25 years (1985-1997, 1998-2010) and was Chair of the Board for 12 of those years. He was elected as Trustee Emeritus in 2011.

Dr. Hoselton was a lifetime resident of Rochester, N.Y., except while he completed an M.S.M.E. at the University of Michigan and then a B.S.M.E. at General Motors Institute. Beginning in 1964, he was the chair of the board of the Hoselton Auto Mall and chief executive officer.

His involvement in the community was extensive, including the YMCA and Boy Scouts. In 1998, Dave was the recipient of the Leo Holmsten Human Life Award. In June 2003, he received the Distinguished Eagle Award by the Otetiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Dave and his wife, Coralie, were named to the Roberts Wesleyan College Hall of Fame in 1993 and served on the Board of Reference. He was presented with an Honorary Degree, the Doctor of Humane Letters, in May 2011, and that same year he and Coralie were presented with the President’s Award of Excellence for Scholarship, Spiritual Formation, and Service.

In 2000 the Hoselton Foundation, under Dave’s leadership, funded the Permanent endowment of the Hoselton Chair of Ethics in the Department of Business Administration and Economics. For more than twenty years, the Hoselton Chair has funded numerous initiatives focused on promoting ethical decision-making and free enterprise, including the Students in Free Enterprise (later Enactus) chapter at Roberts Wesleyan, which earned national recognition and awards for many years.
