Marathon bars will be returning to the UK, almost 30 years after being renamed Snickers. The nutty snack will be called Marathon once more in Morrisons, but only as part of a three-month trial.

Starting from 9 September, runners and retro chocolate enthusiasts alike will have 12 weeks to run, sprint, or jog their way to Morrisons to buy a Marathon, before the name goes back to Snickers.

Marathon was renamed Snickers in 1990, after Mars decided to change the name of the British brand to be in keeping with the global market. The name has now been re-registered as a UK trademark. Mars have confirmed to various news publications that the Marathon bars will still use the same recipe as Snickers, so chocolate fans should not be worried about the switch.
