Where is Benmore Botanic Garden?
Benmore Botanic Garden is one of the highlights of a trip to Argyll Forest. It is on the Cowal Penninsula, 5 miles east from Dunoon on the A815. The photograph above shows the Redwood avenue of Giant Sequoias planted nearly 160 years ago. There are plants across the garden from all over the world.
The site is part of the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh. Follow that link for admission prices and opening hours.

Changing Seasons at Benmore Botanic Garden
The photographs on this page reflect the changing seasons at Benmore Botanic Garden. Spring sees the arrival of Rhodadendrans, with colour on its slopes. The autumn colours are incredible.
Celebrating Park People
One of the subjects of 'Celebrating Park People and their Stories', a short film series that we produced for Friends of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs was Neil McCheyne the Garden Supervisor at Benmore Botanic Garden. This film is nearly a decade old but is still relevant today.
Benmore Botanic Garden Views
The paths through the garden take you to different sections, as well as Victorian Fernery. From the high vantage points, you get some good views of the forest towards Holy Loch. Stop at the Wildlife Hide, where if you’re lucky you may see a red squirrel.
