Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has had his contract rescinded by Inter Milan after not playing this season.

The 34-year-old defender left Old Trafford to join the Nerazzurri in July 2014 and made 28 competitive appearances for the San Siro side, scoring one goal.

However, hernia and back injuries meant Vidic has failed to feature for Inter this season and is now on the lookout for a new club.

Sky sources revealed last week that Vidic had mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Inter, which the club have now confirmed.

Vidic told inter.it: "Thanks to all the Nerazzurro family and to the Inter fans. I wish the club all the best for the future. Forza Inter!"
