  • St Giles’ Cathedral is run by donations. Please give as you are able, our suggested donation is £6.

  • Come and join us at 10.30am or 2.30pm for our daily short walking tours of St Giles’ Cathedral. These tours are free, and will last around 45 minutes. Booking is essential as these tours fill up quickly. See below for booking links.

    Our guide will tell you stories from the building’s early foundations to John Knox’s Reformation, and show you into the famous Thistle Chapel, home to the Order of the Thistle. From rebellions to royals, guilds to guillotines, and even a unicorn, this tour has it all.

    Please note, these times are for guided tours. It is still possible to visit St Giles’ during our usual opening hours listed above. These tours are not intended for larger groups. If you would like to book a group visit, please see below.

    Please let us know if you cannot make the tour, as demand is high and so we will offer your space to someone else.

  • This tour will lead you through the building, revealing secrets and stories about St Giles’ as well as explaining our rich history and architectural features. This tour is accessed on your phone via a QR code, which means you can be in charge of your own tour, stopping and starting as it suits you.

    The tour lasts 25 minutes and currently only offered in English. You will need a smartphone, headphones for best experience (not mandatory) and 25MB of download space. The tour can be purchased for £5.50 at the front desk.

    The audio tour is currently in English and German.

    Just show your confirmation email at the front desk when you arrive at St Giles’ and a member of staff or a volunteer will be able to get you started.
