Fringed Brome is a non-rhizomatous, erect, clump style perennial grass that likes full to partial sun.  It is well adapted to wet mesic prairies and woodland borders. It can survive in a broad range of soil types and exhibits good salt tolerance.  Fringed Brome will survive in the northern and western regions where other species do not.  It can be found as far north as the interioir of Alaska. Reproduction occurs only by seed.
