Fans won't be seeing Blake Lively make her annual strut down the red carpet at this year's Met Gala.
The Gossip Girl actor confirmed Thursday while attending the star-studded reopening of Tiffany & Co. Fifth Avenue in New York City that she was skipping this year's event. While wearing a brown midi dress and voluminous curls in her hair, Blake told reporters that they “will not” see her at this year's Met Gala.
“But I will be watching,” Blake added.
When a reporter complimented her show-stopping, Statue of Liberty-inspired ensemble from last year, Blake responded, “Thank you, that's very sweet. I'll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.”
While Blake didn't specify why she wouldn't be attending the first Monday in May, she and her husband Ryan Reynolds just welcomed their fourth child in February.
Blake has always been a staple at the annual Met Gala — which is a fundraising event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Blake has in the past teamed up with several big-name designers including Versace, Chanel, Burberry, and others to create beautiful gowns that embody each year's theme. The actor was also one of last year's co-chairs, alongside her husband Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Regina King. Last year's theme was In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
While Blake won't be gracing the famous carpeted steps up to the Met this year, there will surely be other stunning looks on the biggest day in fashion.
This year's theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which honors the legacy of the legendary designer, whose known for his creative direction at Chanel, along with his work at Chloé, and his own brand. Lagerfeld died in 2019 at the age of 85. This year's co-chairs are actor Penélope Cruz, singer Dua Lipa, actor Michaela Coel, and tennis player Roger Federer.
