Since its premiere in 2019, HBO’s hit series Euphoria has had a massive impact on pop culture. The series, now in its sophomore season, has continued to dominate discourse across makeup, fashion, and music. And now it seems like it’s impacting one musician personally — Kehlani.
On February 15, it was noted on social media that the Oakland native and R&B star was experiencing strong feelings about Euphoria, especially after spotting herself in the background of a scene. “Kehlani about to quit music because of Euphoria is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while,” Twitter user @shaiifoestark wrote, sharing two screenshots from Kehlani’s IG stories.
The first screenshot showed a snippet from the sixth episode of Euphoria’s second season, called "A Thousand Little Trees of Blood." The screengrab in question shows Cassie in her room speaking to Nate on the phone after Rue had revealed their affair to Maddy — and almost half the cast — during her great escape from her family intervention.
The audience has seen Cassie’s room a handful of times in the show, but Kehlani pointed out a detail that most viewers might have missed: Cassie has a poster of the singer's debut studio album SweetSexySavage on her wall.
“Cassie… you got my poster on yo wall girl… THIS WHAT U BEEN LEARNING FROM MY MUSIC?!" wrote Kehlani on her stories with a row of crying emojis. "Aw hell. Heal girl HEAL!”
In her second story, which appeared to feature a behind-the-scenes shot from the set, we see a different angle that reveals yet another Kehlani poster. This time, it’s the cover of her 2019 mixtape While We Wait that gets the spotlight. “Omg she love me fr I’m out I quit,” Kehlani wrote. (We feel you, K. Speaking to Teen Vogue in September, even Sydney Sweeney admitted that “Cassie needs to get it together” — so we bet she feels you, too!)
Of course, Cassie and Lexi do share a room so there’s a chance these posters could belong to Lexi… but your guess is as good as ours — and Kehlani's, of course!
