Coleonema album is a popular shrub in NZ due to its attractive, aromatic foliage, and star like flowers. The bright green foliage is soft and feathery, borne on slender stems, and releases a pleasant and light fragrance when brushed against. The foliage is adorned with masses of small, white flowers from late winter through spring. This evergreen typically grows to 1 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, dry periods, and some wind. Coleonema album is a great plant for using as a groundcover, including in mixed plantings and borders, or planting near a walkway where its beauty and aromatic foliage can be appreciated.
