Nestle is launching a New York Cheesecake flavoured KitKat Chunky – but is it any good?

The chocolate brand has taken inspiration from baked goods to flavour the latest edition to their KitKat Chunky line

NESTLE are bringing the New York Cheesecake to the UK in a new edition of the KitKat Chunky bars - but some chocolate fans aren't convinced.

According to the confectionery giant, the milk chocolate and crispy wafer bar is “topped off with a creamy tasting layer” of New York Cheesecake filling.

Despite officially launching on September 18, a number of chocolate fans have already managed to get get their mitts on the bars after discovering that Tesco is already stocking it.

While The Sun Online is yet to try the new addition, those who have tasted it, have given mixed reviews.

One food blogger was pretty disappointed with the new flavour, claiming that the vanilla filling had a “slight sour tang to it” and added that the new addition was far from “groundbreaking”.

Amy Whitelock, who writes for Amy Seeks New Treats, said: “It wasn’t groundbreaking and it certainly didn’t make me squeal with delight, but it wasn’t resigned to the bin either.”

But she added the "topping worked fairly well", so it might be up to personal preference.

Another blogger of Nibbles ‘N’ Scribbles said: "It doesn’t beat the Peanut Butter Chunky but it is a darn good chocolate bar and I say give it a go."

CHOC FULL OF BENEFITS This is why you should be eating chocolate EVERY DAY… for the sake of your brain AND heart

KitKat lovers will need to watch their waistlines when it comes to their snacking habits as the new sweet treat contains 224 calories per bar, compared to 203 calories in the original KitKat Chunky bar.

Recently, Nestle left shoppers worrying about the prices of their chocolatey snacks after pushing the price up of a 200g of Nescafe Gold Blend coffee up by 46 per cent.

But, the KitKat's RRP remains at 65p - the same as an original KitKat Chunky - and is currently available as part of a "Any 3 for £1.20" deal at Tesco.

This isn’t the first time KitKat Chunky have introduced new flavours to their range. Last year the KitKat Chunky Cookie Dough edition was added to supermarket shelves, as well as the much loved peanut butter flavour.

Nestle also recently came under fire after introducing a nut-free Walnut Whip.
