What time is Eggheads on BBC Two, who is host Jeremy Vine and how exactly does the show work?

A team of challengers will be battling it out against the general knowledge Goliaths

QUIZ show Eggheads is back on tonight as a team of challengers attempt to take on some of the country's top quiz experts.

Jeremy Vine is the quizmaster as usual while here's all the info on when it is on and who's involved.

When is Eggheads on BBC Two and how does it work?

Eggheads is next on our screens with a repeat which airs on BBC Two TONIGHT (June 30) at 6pm.

Each challenger bar one must choose a subject and battle it out against their chosen Egghead.

They are asked three questions on the subject and if they answer the same amount correctly they go to "Sudden Death" whereby the first one to answer a question incorrectly loses.

For the last round those who won in each team go head to head to win the prize money.

If the challenging team does not win the money is carried over to the next week.

Who are the Eggheads?

The Goliath's are a team of some of the country's top quizzers.

The Eggheads inlcude; Tremendous Knowledge Dave Rainford, Mastermind and Millionaire winner Pat Gibson; winner of Are You An Egghead? Barry Simmons; Millionaire winner Judith Keppel; Mastermind winner Chris Hughes; four times world quiz champion Kevin Ashman; and 15-1 winner Daphne Fowler.

Who is Jeremy Vine?

Jeremy Vine is a British broadcast journalist and TV presenter who hosts BBC Two's Eggheads.

He was named Speech Broadcaster of the Year at the Sony Awards in 2005 and 2011 and currently presents a daily programme on Radio. He also hosts current affairs show Panorama.

Jeremy graduated from Durham University in 1986 after achieving a degree in English Literature and began his journalism career as a trainee reporter at the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

He left to become a BBC news trainee, then Today reporter and later BBC Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg.

Vine was married to American banker Janelle Muntz for seven years before the couple divorced in 2000. He is now married to journalist and news presenter Rachel Schofield, the couple have two daughters.
