PETER Jones has revealed that he had to live on a warehouse floor after losing millions of pounds aged just 28.

The 53-year-old businessman currently has an estimated net worth of £485 million - which is very different to the dwindling cash he had in his bank account in his late twenties.

Broadcasting live on the Virgin Radio Breakfast show the remaining original Dragons' Den investor opened up about some of the big mistakes he made, which resulted in some serious consequences with his career.

“And then late twenties everything sort of, I got a bit carried away, made huge mistakes and then lost everything," he confessed.

In disbelief, the talk-show host replied: "Did you really?!"

Peter replied: "I lost everything I had people that owed me money, and didn’t pay me, international couriers which were massive, they were originally owned by BA, they went bust and then at 28, I just literally just lost everything – cars, house, the whole lot."

At the time of losing all his money, Peter was living at Martins Heron and described the situation as "devastating."

He revealed that three years before he was asked by a man if he wanted to take out a credit insurance and at the time didn't think he needed it.

"It was just naivety, I had to start again.

"So I went and got my first job at 28, trying to think what I am going to do, I've never worked for anybody, so I decided to go and write and send my CV off to everyone."

Despite the hardships, the 54-year-old entrepreneur has had an outstanding career and revealed that his success started off from him building and selling computers.

When asked what the first thing that made him think that he had truly achieved something, he replied: “The first thing I think, I was building computers, I started to build a computer when I was 17 or 18 at home, an IBM compatible computer, and then I started to sell computers, and when I sold a computer to a company called Ligo I think, and they were selling systems which became blockbuster.

"And I kept on selling them computers for like £4000 and it was costing me a couple of thousand to make and then I realised I was onto something here."
