How old is Iain Glen? What's his background?

Iain Glenn, 57, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He attended the University of Aberdeen before training at RADA in London.

His younger brother Hamish is the artistic director of the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

Iain has a son with ex wife Susannah Harker who he was married to from 1993 to 2004 as well as two daughters with his current partner Charlotte Emmerson.

What has Iain Glen said about Game Of Thrones?

Iain's character Ser Jorah Mormont contracted greyscale in the series six of Game Of Thrones - a disease that slowly turns a person to stone.

But in an interview with fan site Winter Is Coming the actor suggested that he might survive in the upcoming season.

He said: "I've always enjoyed playing Jorah. It's been a role that's been good to me so far.

"There's quite a high death count in Game of Thrones and they don't blanch at removing favourite characters.

"They just get rid of them in a brutal way. My end may well be close but so far I'm doing okay."

Iain has played the character since 2011.

What else has Iain Glen starred in?

In 2001 Iain starred as Manfred Powell in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

The following year he appeared alongside Emilia Fox in Roberto Faenza's romantic drama The Soul Keeper.

In the second series of Downton Abbey he played tabloid publisher Richard Carlisle who became engaged to Lady Mary.

He also played Paul, the husband of Francesca in the 2012 series Prisoners' Wives.

In November 2018 he stars as Alec Wilson in the BBC drama Mrs Wilson based on a true story.

His character was a spy, MI6 agent, bigamist and the grandfather of actress Ruth Wilson who also appears in the series.

Speaking to The Guardian she said:" Iain has done a brilliant job with such a difficult part.

"People may well judge my grandfather, but it is not about that in the end. It is about family unity and about what has come out of all this for us."
