Why every garden needs a climbing rose

They’re tough, easy to grow — and there’s a variety that will work in every space

Climbing roses are popular, long-lived, tough plants that are ideal for scrambling over pergolas and arches or growing on supports on to walls or fences. For me scent is essential — and a climbing rose can perfume a courtyard or small garden on its own. With such choice out there, why would anyone go without? If you come across a rose at nose level it’s likely to draw you in for a closer inspection, a quick sniff. What a letdown if there’s no perfume pumping out.
