Actress Gina Torres joined People TV this week to chat about motherhood, Suits, and, of course, her former co-star Meghan Markle.
"You may or may not know this, but your former Suits star Meghan Markle is now the Duchess of Sussex," said Jeremy Parsons, who co-hosts the show.
"I'm sorry, what? Really? I've been a little busy," said Torres jokingly.
Before she left Hollywood for Buckingham Palace, Markle played paralegal Rachel Zane on the USA Network show, which aired its final season premiere on Wednesday. Torres played Jessica Pearson on the series for years, and is now starring in a spinoff appropriately titled Pearson. The two co-stars were close, and Torres even attended Meghan and Harry's wedding last year.
"We called ourselves the sister wives," Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna on Suits, said of her relationship with Meghan and Gina ahead of the royal nuptials. "We were with each other for longer than we went to college or high school with our friends, so we became family in a way. We're still family."
While they may not see each other on set anymore, Torres is still "cheering on" her friend from afar, as Meghan takes on the role of motherhood.
In May of this year, she gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named Archie, and when asked, Torres was quick to compliment Meghan's parenting abilities.
"She’s a great mom. I’m sure she’s a great mom," said Torres. "This is a dream come true for her."
