Chicago P.D. Will Tackle Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

Chicago P.D. underwent several changes during its latest season with Sophia Bush exiting for good and the show moving in a more socially-charged direction. Season 5 saw the Dick Wolf-produced drama tackle current issues like police shootings, in which Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) accidentally shot a young girl, and police reform led by Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson). Now, the series is set to take on another major story ripped straight from the headlines: sexual harassment.

"We've got an exciting episode coming up that deals with sexual misconduct in the police force and in the inner city," showrunner Rick Eid tells TV Guide.

The topic has dominated national conversation in 2017 with the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey, Arrowverse producer Andrew Kreisberg and most recently, The Royals showrunner Mark Schwahn all losing their jobs amid allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

The cop drama looks to add its own spin to the subject by turning the tables on one of its own. "One of our characters will be involved in something related to sexual misconduct, as a victim," he explained. "More like the idea of sexual harassment in the workplace."

While it's unclear who would be the victim of harassment, we do know that it will happen during the 14th episode of the season, expected to air in early 2018.

This comes after Chicago P.D. star Jason Beghe was previously investigated for inappropriate behavior on set but remained on the show after receiving anger management coaching.

Chicago P.D. returns Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 10/9c on NBC.
