Una Healy has joked that she was ‘hoodwinked’ in to joining a throuple with David Haye.

The Saturdays singer, 41, shocked fans when she was pictured looking cosy with the boxer and his on/off model partner Sian Osbourne, 31, on holiday in Morocco last year.

She has since split from David, 42, and it’s been reported that he and Sian, 35, have welcomed a new woman to the fold.

But, reflecting on the unconventional set-up, the mum-of-two had no idea that she would end up in a three-way relationship - but admits that she was wary of getting in to a romantic set-up with David from the off.

Speaking to Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally on the My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, she revealed that she first crossed paths with the boxer on celeb dating app Raya - but a quick search of his name made her question what sort of partner he would be after seeing allegations of infidelity.

She said: 'I straight out asked him "what are you looking for?" because I did a Google and thought I'm probably going straight from the frying pan to the fire with this one because he did exactly to his wife what my ex husband did to me. I didn't like that.’

David told her that he 'didn't believe the traditional relationship exists anymore’ which prompted Una to firmly friend-zone him.

However, her stance softened over time as they kept in close contact and met whenever Una was in London for work.

She explained: 'Dating HIM is the right term because that's how it was, it wasn't a throuple. We had a lovely relationship.

'On the flight over he was in the middle seat and he had one hand on her leg and one hand on mine'

'It was casual, it wasn't serious. I was happy enough with it. It was in a romantic capacity.

'He was very honest that I wasn't the only woman he was seeing, I was very aware he was seeing other people. I knew he was being honest and it's not like I was being cheated on.

'I knew he wasn't husband material, just a bit of fun and I was enjoying it.’

After noticing how much David interacted with Sian - who he doesn’t refer to as a girlfriend due to his polyamorous beliefs - he admitted that she was still a big part of his life and he wanted Una to meet her.

Una was wary but thought that if it became public knowledge that she was dating David it would look like Sian had been cheated on - as she had been by her ex-husband Ben Foden.

She explained: 'At least if we're all pictured together we're all a happy family, there's nothing sinister going on.

'He doesn't label, he's never called her [Sian] his girlfriend, he's open, polyamorous. So I did meet her and she was a really nice girl but there was nothing going on there so it wasn't a throuple. I wasn't romantic with her, I don't really know her.’

Una has nothing but praise for ’kind and honest’ David Haye

There were more revelations to come in the lively podcast chat, as Una reminisced about her festive break to Morocco with David - and Sian, who he insisted also came along.

She said: 'The honesty was there and I found that attractive. I remember on the flight over he was in the middle seat and he had one hand on her leg and one hand on mine.

'I said to him, "what am I doing?" and he goes "you're having a midlife crisis but don't worry so am I!" and I thought "she's [Sian's] not because she's 10 years younger!’

It wasn’t until after David posted that now infamous photo that Una learnt was a ’throuple’ was, having to Google the meaning after the word was hurled at her by trolls.

'I knew he wasn't husband material, just a bit of fun and I was enjoying it'

Weeks later there was a second holiday to Costa Rica - but it signalled the end of her relationship with David after she heard The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica, a song about two women fighting for the love of one man.

Una said: 'As soon as I got there, I could hear the song. It just wasn't right.

'There's no dynamic there - she's not my girlfriend, he's both our boyfriend and I just thought, "I'm out, you can have him." He can have whoever he wants because one [woman] will never be enough for him.

'I don't want to be in a three-way relationship!'

Joanne joked, 'you were hoodwinked into a throuple’ to which Una agreed: 'I was!'

Una has no hard feelings towards David - who responded to her ending their fling in January by telling her she’d 'unsubscribed from the team’ - and is still in touch with him.

'I really enjoyed my relationship with him,' she said. 'He was very kind to me and very honest but it ran its course and I've been single ever since. He's just living his truth, his authentic self.'
