More than 3.8 Million 2CVs were produced from 1948 to 1990. This made it the first front-wheel drive car to become a million-seller. The Citroen 2CV had many variants through the years, including delivery vans based on the 2CV, and the AMI, Dyan, and Mehari models.

The Citroen 2CV is linked with the Volkswagen Beetle by its design and much of its history.
