Rights And Democracy Endorses David Zuckerman for Governor

BURLINGTON: Yesterday, in a virtual meeting attended by over a thousand people, Rights and Democracy endorsed David Zuckerman in his bid to be the next Governor of Vermont. The endorsement was part of the launch of Renew New England, a consortium of over 50 progressive, racial justice, environmental and activist organizations, working to elect leaders up and down the ballot across our six states.

In a speech to the Vermont breakout group, Lt. Governor Zuckerman said, “Thank you Rights and Democracy - members and leaders - for this endorsement. I am honored to accept it and know that together we can take back the Governorship in Vermont! In doing so, we can advance and work together on the policies and issues that Vermonters really care about and that so many Vermonters need for a safe, vibrant, and healthy future.”

Rights and Democracy Executive Director James Haslam said, “Rights and Democracy was founded in 2015 on the theory of change that it takes people power, year after year, to make the kind of big, bold, long-term changes we want to see in this country. We are proud to endorse David and know that we will be able to work with him in the Governor’s office toward those big bold changes that will improve the lives of so many Vermonters.”

Rights and Democracy is the largest progressive political organization in Vermont. The core of its work is door-to-door (now virtual) canvassing, local organizing and leadership development, and electoral and legislative engagement. This endorsement brings substantial volunteer power and engagement behind David’s candidacy for governor.

This is the third time Rights and Democracy has endorsed David in his bid for public office.
