Corydoras Robineae

Description

Corydoras robineae is a species of freshwater catfish belonging to the family Callichthyidae. They are commonly known as Corydoras or Cory Cats.

  1. Temperature: Maintain a water temperature between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C) for Corydoras robineae.

  2. Minimum Tank Size: Provide a tank with a minimum size of 20 gallons. These catfish are best kept in groups, so a larger tank is beneficial.

Feeding Habits: Corydoras robineae is omnivorous. They accept a varied diet, including high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. A mix of protein and vegetable-based foods is recommended.

Habitat Preference: Corydoras robineae originates from South America and is often found in slow-moving waters, including tributaries and floodplains. Provide a well-decorated aquarium with soft sand or fine gravel substrate, as they enjoy foraging in the substrate for food.

Water pH Level: Maintain a slightly acidic to neutral pH level between 6.0 and 7.5.

Behavior: Corydoras robineae is a peaceful and social species. They are known for their playful behavior and are often seen exploring the bottom of the aquarium. They are also known to rest on broad leaves or flat surfaces.

Corydoras robineae is a shoaling species, and they are best kept in groups of at least six individuals. They feel more secure and exhibit more natural behaviors when kept in a group.

Corydoras robineae is primarily a bottom-dwelling species. While they may be active during the day, they often display more activity during the evening and night.

Color: Corydoras robineae has a relatively subdued coloration, with a base color that may range from beige to light brown. They often have a distinct dark line running along their sides.

Adding Corydoras robineae to your aquarium provides not only an interesting and social bottom-dwelling species but also contributes to the overall health of the tank by helping keep the substrate clean. Ensure that the tank is well-maintained, and provide hiding spots and broad-leaved plants to create a comfortable environment for these delightful catfish.
