Red Zebra Mbuna aquarium fish live, Red zebras should only be kept with other Mbuna African cichlids. These can be aggressive and should be kept with similar sized fish with in 2 inches. Mbunas are very active fish and will always be swimming up and down the tank. Red zebras typically get 5 inches when adults. Water temperature should be above 78F degrees. My water for these fish: PH 7.9-8.2 Hard water, Recommend using crushed coral or aragonite to buffer water. Tank size should be 20 gallon high and up. These are social fish and they will create a social hierarchy so overstocking will help with aggression. Filter: recommend canister filter or sump on large tanks, Sponge filters on tanks under 30 gallons. 

  • Note that not all fish will look the same as the pictures; Some genetic traits such as a black dot or orange to red coloring can differ. A Plus Cichlids will only send you the highest quality of fish!
