About this objectCottles Barton (now The Barton) for sale in 1904. A branch of the Cottle family settled here c.1550. The present thatched house dates from 1557 according to the date over the porch. It lies adjacent to the River Taw and anciently had four mills including two gryst, one fulling and one edge mill.
