Local Monsignor is Inducted as a Knight of Honor by Notre Dame High School

Monsignor Gerard G. Schmitz will be one of ten inductees into Notre Dame High School's Knights of Honor Hall of Fame. A dinner reception honoring the inductees will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Anthony's Ocean View Restaurant in New Haven.

Msgr. Schmitz has dedicated his life to serving God and the people of the Archdiocese. In the last four decades, he has served the faithful in several parishes including St. Augustine in North Branford, St. Margaret in Madison, St. Rita in Hamden, and St. Bernard in Tarrifville. In 2002, he was appointed Chaplain to His Holiness, granting him the title of Monsignor. Shortly ater, he was given the assignment of Vicar for Priests of the Archidocese of Hartford. In this position, he works with priests in regard to their parish assignments and personnel needs.

Msgr. Schmitz is a graduate of Notre Dame High School, St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfiled, and Saint Bernard Seminary in Rochester.

According to Notre Dame High School, Schmitz has forever remained loyal to the school, and has always been willing to lend a helpng hand by presiding at countless Notre Dame Liturgies, and has served on the school's Board of Directors.
