Overview

The Lincoln and Londonderry Small Area Plan initiative represents a proactive approach to shaping the future growth and identity of a vital community hub. The project's primary objective is to develop a comprehensive vision that will serve as a guiding framework for future development and infrastructure decisions within the targeted area near Lincoln Drive and Londonderry Road.

The plan process will actively engage stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and local organizations,to ensure diverse perspectives are considered and incorporated to establish:

  1. Visionary Growth: To establish a vision for economically and ecologically sustainable growth and development that preserves the unique character of the Lincoln and Londonderry area.

  2. Community Identity: To cultivate a strong sense of community identity and foster a vibrant social and cultural environment.

  3. Infrastructure Enhancement: To identify and prioritize infrastructure improvements that support the envisioned growth and enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses.

  4. Integration with Comprehensive Plan: To align the small area plan with the City's Comprehensive Plan and other adopted planning efforts, ensuring consistency and compatibility with broader municipal goals and objectives.

Project Timeline:

The small area plan process commenced in February 2024 and is anticipated to conclude in early 2025. This timeline allows for comprehensive research, robust community engagement, and thoughtful deliberation to produce a well-informed and inclusive plan.

How you can be Involved!

Throughout the project, you will find opportunities on this webpage for online engagement. Right now, you can comment on the small area map below to tell us what you like, any concerns you may have, and your ideas for mobility and green space! You can also , use the “forum” to share what you think the best thing about the Lincoln and Londonderry area is, and what you think the Lincoln and Londonderry area needs.

Additionally, there will be a number of ways to provide feedback in person. Our first community workshop will occur on June 11th. More information is available on the right.

    Join us for the first Lincoln and Londonderry Small Area Plan Visioning Workshop!

    We invite you to be a part of shaping the future of the Lincoln and Londonderry area. This workshop aims to bring together individuals who want to contribute their ideas and visions for the development and enhancement of the community.

    When: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11

    Where: Walnut Ridge Park, 5801 Londonderry Road

    Tours of the Lincoln and Londonderry area (optional)

    Bike tour: leaves at 5:45 p.m. Bring your own bike.

    Walking tour: leaves at 6 p.m.

    Kids activities will be provided at the workshop.

    The Lincoln and Londonderry Small Area Plan process is getting underway. On March 27, the Planning Commission appointed six additional members to the working group to serve alongside the three co-chairs from the Planning Commission (Commissioners Miranda, Daye and Felt). The six new members are Nancy Spannaus, Steve Brown, Jignasha Pandya, Coryn Griffeth, Jim Diley and Russ Rubin. Additionally, on April 2, the City Council approved a contract with Mend Collaborative to serve as the consultant for the small area plan. The working group, consultant team and city staff will meet regularly over the next ten months to study the area and carry out a public engagement process to inform the plan. Ways for the public to get involved and contribute ideas are expected to be announced soon.

    At their February 14 meeting, the Planning Commission will be considering adoption of the Working Group Greenprint. The Greenprint is the Working Group's charter and establishes the group's purpose, expected outcomes, and timeline for the project. If the Planning Commission approves the Greenprint on February 14, staff will make the application for serving on the Working Group available on Thursday, February 15. Applications will be accepted through Friday, March 8. Applications would be reviewed and recommended by the Working Group Co-chairs (Commissioners Miranda, Daye, and Felt). Approval of the Working Group members is voted on by the Planning Commission and would likely take place at the March 27 meeting.
