Strengthening Our HD8 Community Response Charity

The Denby Dale Centre, a rural independent community-response charity for approaching 20 years operating to support local people in HD8 and across Kirklees, is responsible for over 3,000 acts of connection EVERY month. Their youngest member, William was 5 weeks old and our oldest member, Mona was 96 years young.

The charity operates:

• Community activities: film clubs, dementia groups, cream teas, tea dances, games groups, Ukraine groups, veterans group

• Community transport: vaccination transport, Ukraine family transport, minibus hire, volunteer car service

• Community places: Community Pantry, charity shops, Kirkburton Hub, Training Centre and Community Anchor (supporting other HD8 charities)

This is the charity behind the Kirklees-wide Covid-19 Community Response resulting in national recognition and is now involved in five cost-of-living community response projects.

The Denby Dale Centre also known as TIMEtogether, aims to connect people through 40 projects to improve the quality of life for local people; responding to changing local needs has stretched the charity and its resources.

Like so many charities, the Denby Dale Centre has been impacted by national and international economic challenges and has been hit with rising operation costs.
