What's Your Fancy: Nicky Hilton's Fall Must-Haves
This businesswoman, socialite, and fashion designer weighs in on her fall must-haves.

In our new series, "What's Your Fancy?," we ask expert tastemakers to share the little luxuries essential to their day-to-day lives.
For Nicky Hilton, shoes can make or break an outfit. And while she's often seen at fashion shows or walking the red carpet in heels, she's been a fan of the ballet flat since she was in high school.
"What's great about a ballet flat is it's so versatile. I think it works for day, evening, and any age. They are just the perfect combination of comfort and elegance," she tells T&C.
Hilton first fell in love with the brand French Sole, and their line of flats when she was enrolled in a "very strict all girls, Upper East Side Catholic school," she says. "We had uniforms, and the only way of expressing ourself was through our shoes. That was the only thing we were able to pick out ourselves and of course they couldn't be heels or tennis shoes. I stumbled upon the French Sole flagship walking home one day and just fell in love with their shoes."
Now, years later, she's working with the brand, designing a collection for fall. Ahead of this season's launch, we caught up with Hilton about her favorite pair from the line, and her cold-weather must haves, from a cozy bomber jacket to the perfect pair of shades.
This shoe, Nicky says, is a play on her Teddy coat obsession. "It's a shearling loafer, and there's a little Teddy face and people ask me, 'Are these meant to be worn outdoors?' And I think absolutely," she says. "Yes, they could be a house shoe, but I've definitely been running around in them with skinny jeans or leather leggings."
"First of all, I'm always cold so I love sweaters," Hilton says. This one, by Alice + Olivia is a favorite of hers. "This cashmere piece just keeps you warm. It has this big bow on top that fastens it. I'm obsessed. I think it's so girly and pretty and feminine."
"No one does a coat better than Max Mara. It's so simple, yet timeless and elegant. Not to mention it keeps you so warm. For the past few years I've literally lived in my Teddy coats. It's like you're walking around wrapped in a big blanket. So I definitely have my eye on this new bomber jacket version. I'll call it the Teddy 2.0."
"I love these Haskell sunglasses by Warby Parker," Hilton says. "I love that they work totally year round. They're clear, they go with everything."
"One of my other fall faves would be Macrene Actives High Performance Cleanser. During the colder months, I like to switch to a milky cleanser because foam cleansers can be quite dehydrating. It's just a great cleanser that firms, tones, smooths. Love it."
